Everyone Needs Their Beauty Sleep

Buster and I were discussing the other day how hard we both work and if you don’t take care of yourself it can take a toll on you. He was telling me how tired he gets chasing after squirrels, barking at the kids skateboarding in front of our house and nosing through the trash in the bathroom.
He agreed that it is very important to get plenty of rest, to keep yourself young and youthful. It also helps to ward off tired eyes, dark circles under the eyes and it is good for your over all health.
From the looks of him I would say that the sleep is doing it’s job. Isn’t he the cutest?
A Fella of Opportunity

Last night I had to fold some clothes fresh out of the dryer. I dumped them on the bed and walked away to get some hangers.
When I came back this is what I found. Do you see this? Can’t see? Let’s take a closer look.
Buster takes advantage of opportunity and I can’t blame him. It was a cold day and he made himself a bed in some warm clothes.
This is probably just one of the reasons I have to walk around with a lint roller in my purse.
Christmas Eve

It started snowing around 4 pm Christmas Eve and after our Evil Knievel drive home from church this was the state of our backyard at 7:00 pm.
Obed immediately got suited up and ran outside with the dogs to play in the snow.
They ran around and played and the labs stuck their faces in the snow trying to eat it. Buster and Honey decided it was better to stay inside, I don’t blame them since the snow came up to their chests.
I am glad he enjoyed the snow because this is what he had to do Christmas morning.

Haircut, Headband or Scrunchi?

I walked into the kitchen early this morning to find Buster sitting in the middle of the kitchen. I looked at him and thought dude brush your hair. Then I thought really I should cut your hair. I use to cut it into this cute mohawk that was so appropriate for his personality.
Then I thought maybe I could just get a mini version of those big poofy headbands Hilary Clinton use to wear back in the early 90’s.
Then again knowing him that won’t hold for very long so maybe a velvet scrunchi. Remember when we all had those velvet scrunchis or better yet the stone-wash denim scrunchi?

Then I thought what the heck let’s go way back in time and try a banana clip! Does anyone know where I can get a mini-banana clip for Buster here. It would produce a pretty sweet faux-hawk. Then I can hold off on the haircut a bit more….since he is such a fan of that….NOT!

THE COOOOONNEE OF SHAAAAAMME! *insert here tunnel echo effect*
You may have seen on my Twitter status that I was back at the vet with the big dog. Who is only big in size because Buster, who is only 19 lbs vs. his 73 lbs, bosses him around quite a bit. Jake is a big lovable lug that developed a pretty bad itching problem.
Our dogs are treated with flea treatment but the fleas here are like mutant cyborgs or something, because when the heat came they were suddenly covered. We took Jake to the vet a month ago to find out that he has a really bad allergy to flea bites. After a steroid injection, an anti-inflammatory injection and anti-biotic for Jake and Capstar, flea bath and some Front-line for every one, Jake was doing much better.
Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks later. I notice weird streaks of blood on the walls, which freaked me out. I check Buster and he was clear, checked Honey and she was clear then I checked Jake, at first he looked fine until I checked his hind legs and tail. He was eating himself alive! He was gnawing his hair off and had a few open soars. UGH! I checked Buster and Honey again and they had FLEAS! WHAT THE HECK! It wasn’t time for their next dosage yet! Grrrr.

That afternoon I called the vet and we were back for another round of a steroid injection, anti-inflamatory, anti-biotics and the COOOOONNE OF SHAAAAAAME!
He is doing much, much better now and the cone is off. Vet says that we need to give them their drops every 3 weeks and shampoo them with the flea shampoo at least everyother week. Otherwise we will be at the vet again giving a generous “donation” NOT!
Lazy Saturday Morning

The Saturday morning ritual I think is a sacred one. It is the one day that we do not have to get up early for any reason. We don’t have work, church and we do our best not to schedule anything in the morning. The idea is to sleep in, lounge on the couch while watching cartoons and just hang out.
You know lay low like broccoli.
Be chillin like a villain. (Could I get any cheesier?)
At some point in the day we do a few chores. Hubby has the task of going through all of our mail for the week and deciding what is trash and want needs attention. Buster decided he would help him out.
He was reviewing every piece of paper that went into that bag. Diligently making sure that some important bill or piece of paper didn’t get thrown away.
Checking it once and checking it twice.
After awhile he was drowning in paperwork.
And it just kept piling up.
Finally Buster became very overwhelmed with all the work and just fell asleep. Hubby and I had to write him up for falling asleep on the job. No milk biscuits for him.

Sometimes I wish he could talk, only sometimes. Most times I am so grateful that he can’t talk.
SQUIRREL! I am going to get you squirrel!
Come here little squirrel….
One of these days this force field won’t be here to protect you and I will get you! Mark my words I will get you!
Good Bye Buddy!

Buddy the puppy is finally and officially gone.
Over a month ago Hubby and I took our pack of dogs out for a walk. While we were walking we came across a lab mix puppy that decided to follow us home.
He is a mess! He is your typical large breed puppy that doesn’t realize his strength or his size. Buddy has a ton of energy and as much as he tried to get our dogs to play with him they just weren’t up to it. Which, would usually progress into bickering or a fight. I can’t blame Honey, he was always pulling on her tail and spiking her hair with is personal “hair gel”. Gross! Jake wasn’t crazy about him because he kept stealing his bed and his ball. Jake has all the patience in the world but there was more then a few times that he let Buddy know he was bigger. Finally Buster, our dog with the Napoleon complex. He didn’t like him just because he breathed, period! Anytime we had to disciple Buddy, Buster would jump right in to “help”. Like we needed the help. *rolling eyes*
Was I sad when Buddy was picked up by his new owner? Yes. The dog had been with us over a month. Regardless of how obnoxious he was, you can’t help but get a little attached. However I will admit that my house has suddenly become much more peaceful. Not to mention I feel like I have 5 times more room. A house with 4 dogs gets pretty crowded.
During his stay I lost 3 pairs of flip-flops and some stilettos. Hubby lost 1 pair of flip-flops and a baseball that was signed by his entire college baseball team. That was really disappointing. An entire apple pie was eaten off the kitchen counter. He dug muddy holes in the yard, laid in them and then decided to clean himself off on my sofa. He would come running at you full throttle and head-butt you from behind. He would take a out a wall at almost every turn. But he is a puppy and you can’t expect much more from a puppy. He was sweet and lovable and he was never to far from his beloved stuffed bunny.
When his new owner came to get him, I could see he was excited. I hope that he is happy and loved at his new home.
My Large Living Room Area Rug

I have this large area rug in the living room that is a pain to get up and move when I need to mop the floors. It weighs 78 lbs and it grunts at me when I try to move it.
Say hi to my area rug. Now tell him to move, I need to mop the floor.
