Need a Puppy Fix?

The puppies will be four weeks old tomorrow and they are going great. There have been a few late nights of crying and whining but they are healthy.

Puppies

Their eyes are wide open.

Puppies

Teeth are growing in and being put to good use…..sort of;

Puppies

and they are attentive and curious.  Everything you would expect from peppy puppies. :D

Puppies

These little bundles of energy can tucker you out, it is 7 against 1 after all.

Puppies

I confess to sitting them in front of the “babysitter” so I can get a break, but that never lasts very long.

Puppies

These two were in the middle of a secret private conversation that I couldn’t hear.

Puppies

It looked like it was getting a little heated for a minute there,

Puppies

but it turned out it was just getting boring….at least it was for him.

Puppies

Instead he decided it was time to square off with his brother on the other side of the blanket.

Puppies

“I’m the boss man here in this litter and don’t you forget it.”

Puppies

“You best know your place in this litter…..kapish?”

“You ain’t the boss of me!”

Puppies

“End of discussion….I am boss man!  We’re done!”

Puppies

“You just wait one minute…..I’m not done talking.”

It continued one like that for a few minutes, until I stepped in and said, “Enough, I am boss man and I say go to your blanket and lay down.”

Puppies

In a matter of a few minutes everyone was pass, twitching and whimpering in their sleep.

Interrupting Our Regularly Scheduled Program for PUPPIES!

Girlie & Puppies 550

Sometime between October and November we took in a stray chocolate lab we named Girlie.  At the end of January, Girlie and Jake learned about the birds and the bees.  Yesterday after a short road trip we came home to a proud Mama of 8 puppies.    She caught us a little by surprise, we though she was going to have the puppies tomorrow.

Girlie & Puppies

Mama is doing well and so are all the puppies.  She had 4 females and 4 males, 3 black, 2 yellow and 3 chocolate.  Look at those cute little paws and tiny tail.

Girlie & Puppies

The girls all weigh 10 oz, three of the boys weight 12 oz and one big boy weights 14.5 oz.  He is HUGE!  That’s him, the yellow one in the middle.  His head reminds me of Brain from Pinky and The Brain.

Girlie & Puppies

He hardly never lets go!

Girlie & Puppies

So anyone want a lab puppy in 8 weeks?

Everyone Needs Their Beauty Sleep

Buster and I were discussing the other day how hard we both work and if you don’t take care of yourself it can take a toll on you.  He was telling me how tired he gets chasing after squirrels, barking at the kids skateboarding in front of our house and nosing through the trash in the bathroom.

IMG_0125

He agreed that it is very important to get plenty of rest, to keep yourself young and youthful.  It  also helps to ward off tired eyes, dark circles under the eyes and it is good for your over all health.

IMG_0126

From the looks of him I would say that the sleep is doing it’s job.  Isn’t he the cutest?

A Fella of Opportunity

February 9, 2010 by Meseidy
Filed under Doggie Tales, My Life

Last night I had to fold some clothes fresh out of the dryer.  I dumped them on the bed and walked away to get some hangers.

Buster

When I came back this is what I found. Do you see this?  Can’t see?  Let’s take a closer look.

Buster

Buster takes advantage of opportunity and I can’t blame him.  It was a cold day and he made himself a bed in some warm clothes.

Buster 550

This is probably just one of the reasons I have to walk around with a lint roller in my purse.

Christmas Eve

Blizzard 09

It started snowing around 4 pm Christmas Eve and after our Evil Knievel drive home from church this was the state of our backyard at 7:00 pm.

Blizzard 09

Obed immediately got suited up and ran outside with the dogs to play in the snow.

Blizzard 09

They ran around and played and the labs stuck their faces in the snow trying to eat it.  Buster and Honey decided it was better to stay inside, I don’t blame them since the snow came up to their chests.

Blizzard 09

I am glad he enjoyed the snow because this is what he had to do Christmas morning. :D

The People’s Court

August 21, 2009 by Meseidy

Buster

The Culprit

This dog….this dog is going to be the death of me.  Don’t get me wrong I absolutly love Buster.  I have had him since he was 8 weeks old, but the boy drives me crazy. Good thing for him he is so stinking cute.

*People’s Court theme plays*

The Defendant:  Buster Rivera

The Plaintiff: Obed and Meseidy

The Scene of the Crime: Tulsa International Airport

The Charge:  Being an over excited pain in our tail and locking us out of the car at 11:00 pm at night.

Damages: $50

Plaintiff’s Statement:  Judge my husband had been away on business for a few days and I was picking him up at the airport.  I took the dogs with me including Buster because they had been missing him all week and I thought it would be nice.  I put the dogs in the back of the car.  We have a barrier to keep them from jumping in the front seat.

When my husband was approaching I left the car running and I got out to greet him.  When we went to open the trunk it was locked so I went to the driver side door to unlock the trunk.  That is when I found the Defendant in the front seat, where he’s not suppose to be and he had pushed down on the locks.  My purse was in the car with all keys and the garage door opener.  There was no way to get in the car.  We had to call a locksmith to come out and unlock the door, which cost us $50.

I present Exhibit A a cell phone photo of the Defendant in the front seat mocking us.

24652248

Defendant’s Statement:  Dude I was excited I am sorry!  I would have tried to unlock it but I have no opposable thumbs.

Verdict:  Suck it up the dog makes no money.  Your not getting your $50 bucks back.  Next time leave the dogs at home or take the keys with you when you get out of the car.

Haircut, Headband or Scrunchi?

August 12, 2009 by Meseidy
Filed under Doggie Tales, My Life

I walked into the kitchen early this morning to find Buster sitting in the middle of the kitchen.  I looked at him and thought dude brush your hair.  Then I thought really I should cut your hair.  I use to cut it into this cute mohawk that was so appropriate for his personality.

Buster 600x400

Then I thought maybe I could just get a mini version of those big poofy headbands Hilary Clinton use to wear back in the early 90′s.

Buster

Then again knowing him that won’t hold for very long so maybe a velvet scrunchi.  Remember when we all had those velvet scrunchis or better yet the stone-wash denim scrunchi?

IMG_4165

Then I thought what the heck let’s go way back in time and try a banana clip!  Does anyone know where I can get a mini-banana clip for Buster here.  It would produce a pretty sweet faux-hawk.   Then I can hold off on the haircut a bit more….since he is such a fan of that….NOT!

The Cone of Shame

Cone of Shame 2

THE COOOOONNEE OF SHAAAAAMME! *insert here tunnel echo effect*

You may have seen on my Twitter status that I was back at the vet with the big dog.  Who is only big in size because Buster, who is only 19 lbs vs. his 73 lbs, bosses him around quite a bit.  Jake is a big lovable lug that developed a pretty bad itching problem.

cone of shame 4

Our dogs are treated with flea treatment but the fleas here are like mutant cyborgs or something, because when the heat came they were suddenly covered.  We took Jake to the vet a month ago to find out that he has a really bad allergy to flea bites.  After a steroid injection,  an anti-inflammatory injection and anti-biotic for Jake and Capstar, flea bath and some Front-line for every one, Jake was doing much better.

cone of shame 3

Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks later.   I notice weird streaks of blood on the walls, which freaked me out.  I check Buster and he was clear, checked Honey and she was clear then I checked Jake, at first he looked fine until I checked his hind legs and tail.  He was eating himself alive!  He was gnawing his hair off and had a few open soars.  UGH!  I checked Buster and Honey again and they had FLEAS!  WHAT THE HECK!  It wasn’t time for their next dosage yet!  Grrrr.

Cone of Shame

That afternoon I called the vet and we were back for another round of a steroid injection, anti-inflamatory, anti-biotics and the COOOOONNE OF SHAAAAAAME!

He is doing much, much better now and the cone is off.  Vet says that we need to give them their drops every 3 weeks and shampoo them with the flea shampoo at least everyother week.  Otherwise we will be at the vet again giving a generous “donation” NOT!

Lazy Saturday Morning

July 21, 2009 by Meseidy
Filed under Doggie Tales, My Life

The Saturday morning ritual I think is a sacred one.  It is the one day that we do not have to get up early for any reason.  We don’t have work, church and we do our best not to schedule anything in the morning.  The idea is to sleep in, lounge on the couch while watching cartoons and just hang out.

You know lay low like broccoli.

IMG_3608

Be chillin like a villain. (Could I get any cheesier?)

IMG_3606

At some point in the day we do a few chores. Hubby has the task of going through all of our mail for the week and deciding what is trash and want needs attention. Buster decided he would help him out.

He was reviewing every piece of paper that went into that bag. Diligently making sure that some important bill or piece of paper didn’t get thrown away.

IMG_3590

Checking it once and checking it twice.

IMG_3592

After awhile he was drowning in paperwork.

IMG_3593

And it just kept piling up.

IMG_3597

Finally Buster became very overwhelmed with all the work and just fell asleep. Hubby and I had to write him up for falling asleep on the job. No milk biscuits for him.

One of these days this force field won’t be here to protect you and I will get you!  Mark my words I will get you!
