Crafting Frenzy

I went on a little frenzy.  A crafting frenzy.

Mind you I am not really much of a crafter.  Not that I can’t craft, but crafting isn’t really my thing.  Not that I never do it, obviously, just that I rarely do it.

However, I have a giant wall over my fireplace with no pictures on it.  This weekend I was looking at that bare wall and thought to myself it was time to fill it, but I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg buying pictures to fill this huge space.  Hence why I went on a crafting frenzy.

I kind of like the word frenzy, it makes me think of frizz and friends.  Although I don’t like frizz, but I do like friends.  I don’t know exactly where that leaves me, besides off subject.

Michael’s was having a sale on canvases.   I stocked up on canvases and collected all of the crafty stuff I had in my house.

Craft 1

While I was at the craft store I found these wood letters for .40 each.   I painted the canvas and some of the letters white and others blue.

Craft 2

The idea here was to do a word search kind of thing.  But I wasn’t paying attention and accidentally wrote the abbreviation for forward.  Let’s pretend I am being deep and I meant to say moving forward with God. :D

Craft 4

Moving on to another craft.

This is one that I found on Pinterest and it’s crazy easy.

Glue any kind of paper to the canvas.  I used strips of scrapbook paper, but you can use anything you have on hand.

Craft 5

Stick large vinyl letters onto the paper.  I found mine at the office supply store.

Choose a word that makes you happy.  Butter makes me happy, it makes things delicious.

Craft 6

Drizzle acrylic craft paint all over the canvas and using a foam brush spread until even coated.

Craft 9

Once it’s the paint is evenly spread out peel the vinyl letters off.  Let the paint dry and then brush with a coat of Mod Podge to seal the canvas.

Craft 8

Make sure you space your letters correctly and think it through.  I did not follow my own advice when I tried to do another canvas the same way.

Needless to say I was not happy with this result.  Can you even tell what it says?

Craft 4 (1)

With the rest of my canvases I decided to stick with painting.  Using a pencil I lightly sketched out what I wanted to paint and just traced over it.

Craft

I choose quotes that I loved.  Notice that they are both from the amazing and joyful Julia Child.

Craft 2 (1)

This is supposed to say FAT = FLAVOR, but I don’t know how obvious that is.  Even if it’s not obvious, the little fork and knife are a cute addition.

Craft 3 (1)

The two small painting with strips were done with painters tape.   The circle was a bit more challenging because I had to cut the circle shape out, but I love how it turned out.

What I did was cover the canvas with overlapping painters tape, moved it to a cutting board and traced a circle.  Then using an exacto knife I cut the circle out of the painters tape.  Laid it back on the canvas and then laid more painters tape across creating the criss-cross pattern.  I hope that made sense.

Craft 7

Now that I got all of these done, I have to get OB to hang them up for me, but I have no clue how to configure them.

Craft 5 (1)

I’ll keep you posted and let you know how that goes.

I kind of enjoyed this painting thing, I may give it another go.

My coder is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.

But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites
for about a year and am anxious about switching to another
platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I still find it easier to type SMS and email on my i – Phone rather
than on those two Android phones. Keep in mind, the Kindle Fire was their first attempt, and now
they’ll be going at it with an upgraded edition.
The Nvidia Tegra 3 qual-core processor keeps the tablet humming snappily, and the graphics performance is as good as any tablet available.

There are lots of websites offering vaporizers, however you will find that vaporizer online supplies the best quality with brands
in very cheaper & discounted rates. It requires some patience and employ,
however the Solid Valve Set is good for people searching for
a less-expensive option for the long-term. If there is a constant used a
    herbal vaporizer before and you.

Meseidy, I love these! You are very talented. I always tell myself that I can’t craft my way out of a paper bag, but truthfully, I never really have applied myself and tried. I love painting, so I might just copy a few of your ideas. I do have a question: Did you use a template for the Julia Child quotes or did you do them freehand? Those are the ones I’d love to try out. Grazie!

I sketched them free hand but I was following an image on Pinterest. I just split the canvas up into a grid to keep things lined up and straight.

“”Besitos de coco”" that’s what comes to my mind, Meseidy do you have that recipe??!!!

When I used to live in Puerto Rico and was younger I used to do lots of crafts… were also the years that I went to college; and used to eat lots of besitos de coco. Soooo good!
