I did this cake last night for my husband’s boss. He likes chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. I made them into Texas size muffins. Just easier for them at the office. I made regular cream cheese frosting as that is what he likes. Tried one and they were wonderful!!!! I agree about the water thing and I will use this from now on. Trying it with a Strawberry cake mix we have in the pantry next.

Isn’t it awesome and so easy to put together? I almost always tweak cake and brownie mixes. I just believe there is something inherently wrong with using water to make a cake. If you look at my recipe index I did some Crumb Chocolate Raspberry Brownies from a brownie mix that are crazy easy and equally delicious.

Thanks Christina! I just go with the flow.
I believe that presentation is a big part of the food, so even if it was just or me I wanted it to look pretty. Besides I had to beautify it for its photo shoot.

So creative! I love your intuition when it comes to cooking/baking, you just seem to know what will work. I don’t know how you took the time to level and ice the cake, I would have just taken a spoon and dug right into the pan!

I made it about 2 hours ago and all I can say is “I have died and gone to heaven”. I have never in my life tasted a cake like this one, it literally melts in your mouth. I never knew you could tweak a cake mix recipe. Wow Meseidy this was brilliant!

oh wow. so you didn’t melt the butter, you just softened it? how was the consistency of the batter? the same as if you were to do it normally?

I am definitely intrigued. I think I will have to make some substitutions the next time I use a box mix…
